Vocational Program
OKFD offers a vocational training program for adults with intellectual disabilities. The purpose of the program is to teach job training skills that will prepare them for competitive employment.
The participants work with a crew of their peers, along with their job coaches, in the pick-up of household items from homes and businesses in the Oklahoma City area, Mon-Fri from 9AM-3PM. These items are collected and then sold through Bargain Thrift Store. All proceeds directly fund our program. More information about our Donated Items Pick Up service can be found here.
Participants also attend classes where they are taught skills, such as:
- Reading
- Writing
- Money handling
- Professionalism
- Customer service
Each participant in the program must have a Development Disabilities Service Division (DDSD) waiver to qualify.
Once the participant has successfully completed their training, they will possibly be ready for job placement within the greater O community.
